PCIJ’s initial scan of candidates who filed their certificates of candidacy (COCs) in October shows that at least two dozen political dynasties are aiming for five to 11 seats after May 2025.
The names are based on lists of candidates from the Commission on Elections, news media reports on the candidates, and social media posts of the candidates themselves.
The numbers could be higher if family members running for lower positions like city and municipal councilors were not reported. The count also does not include barangay officials.
