COTABATO CITY. The candidacy filing for the first regular elections in the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM) opened on Monday, November 4.
At least eight regional political parties have received accreditation, while three others are still under review.
Here are the nominees of the regional political parties, based on documents they submitted to the Bangsamoro Electoral Office.
Moro Ako Party
Moro Ako Party is a Marawi City-based regional political party that has young professionals, lawyers, doctors, engineers, and other professionals among its nominees.
It was the first regional political party to officially participate in next year’s elections.

United Bangsamoro Justice Party (UBJP)
Chief Minister Ahod ‘Al Haj’ Murad’ Ebrahim, Minister Mohagher Iqbal, and Ali Solaiman top the nominees of the United Bangsamo Justice Party (UBJP) of the Moro Islamic Liberation Front, the former rebel group currently leading the transition government in the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao.
UBJP filed its Manifestation of Intent to Participate (MIP) in the May 2025 BARMM polls on Friday, November 7.
The chief of MILF’s Bangsamoro Islamic Armed Forces, Maguindanao Del Norte Gov. Abdulraof Macacua, was initially listed as third nominee of UBJP. Iqbal shared the the top eight nominees during an interview with PCIJ on November 6.
He is instead seeking the parliament seat representing the 3rd District of Maguindanao Del Norte. He filed his candidacy on Saturday, November 9.

3. BARMM Grand Coalition (BGC)
The BARMM Grand Coalition (BGC) is a coalition of regional political parties led by BARMM’s incumbent governors.
- the Al-Ittihad party led by former TESDA Sec. Suharto Mangudadatu and Maguindanao del Sur Governor Bai Mariam Sangki Mangudadatu
- the Bangsamoro People’s Party (BPP) led by Basilan lone Rep. Mujiv Hataman;
- the Serbisyong Inklusibo-Alyansang Progresibo (SIAP) party led by Lanao del Sur Gov. Mamintal “Bombit” Adiong; and
BGC as well as the three political parties that make up the coalition received accreditation to participate in the May 2025 BARMM polls. Only BGC submitted nominees for the 40 seats allocated to regional political parties.
Meanwhile, the individual political parties fielded candidates for the district seats in their respective provinces.
