It’s been a month since PCIJ’S Third National Conference on Investigative Journalism. We celebrate the huge success of the event that was first introduced in 2019, thanks to the highly engaged participation of the PCIJ network in the media, civil society, and the academe.

We are happy to share that PCIJ is offering fellowship grants to 5-10 selected participants of the recently concluded Third National Conference on Investigative Journalism.

We will assign mentors and provide funding support — from P15,000 up to P75,000 — for stories that document or expose abuse, negligence, or wrongdoing in the following subject areas:

  • poverty and inequality
  • human rights
  • the use of public funds
  • media, free expression, press freedom, media ethics
  • 2025 National and Local Elections
  • First Bangsamoro Elections
  • religious and ethnic minorities
  • courts and criminal justice

We will prioritize applicants who already have in their possession initial data or documents to start their investigations. Fill out this Story Memo Form to apply.

The Story Memo Form will require applicants to assess realistic costs and deadlines for the story project. The deadline for application is June 15.

We look forward to your applications.

We invite you to check out the conference website — www.pcij.org/ijph2024 — where you can watch sessions you joined and sessions you missed. We had three plenary sessions that covered the biggest issues and challenges for the Philippine media, and 12 breakout sessions that tackled the biggest current events and the most pressing issues we report on.

Read the “Tips for Journalists,”  where we collected messages and recommendations from our session speakers. They are helpful reminders of how we can improve our coverage of issues.
