MAIN STORY: 7 MILLION HECTARES OF PHILIPPINE LAND ARE FORESTED – AND THAT'S BAD NEWS


The country's total forest cover plateaued since the first Aquino administration, but geographical breakdown of the data shows a grim picture. Half of all provinces lost forest cover totallng more than 154,000 hectares in the past 12 years. 

The Mimaropa region – covering Mindoro, Marinduque, Romblon and Palawan – has seen the worst deforestation in recent years. Caraga and the Cordillera regions offer hope.
