“BAYAN KO” is in vogue again, being sung by demonstrators on both sides of the political fence.
Out of the current political turmoil, the positive thing singer-songwriter Noel Cabangon expects is a healthier harvest of patriotic song. He says composers often become profound and prolific during these times.
Cabangon is perhaps one of the many artists whose brand of music becomes a staple during rallies and political symposia. Today, he and other artists will perform before students of De La Salle University in Dasmarinas, Cavite. The students there failed to attend the February 29 interfaith prayer-rally in Makati due to the delays in “processing” they had to go through at three police checkpoints.
