Orig & ‘fake’ bank docs: 42 differences

PSBank President Pascual M. Garcia III, testifying on Day 20 of the impeachment trial at the Senate of Supreme Court Chief Justice Renato C. Corona, said there are “42 points of differences” between original bank documents and Annex A, or the supposedly spurious photocopies of the Corona signature cars that the prosecution had obtained.

Garcia said these “differences” include:

  • Date on documents: Digits clear in bank document, not in Annex A or photocopied “fake” document. Appearance digits were superimposed?
  • Numbers in box, clear and blurred, with appearance that indicates digits may be superimposed
  • The name “Corona Renato Coronado” in original document is not underline; in Annex A, it is underlined
  • Bank specimen signature: No marking of the letters “PEP” (politically exposed person) mark in the original bank documents; in Annex A,, PEP marking exists, highlighted
  • Back portion of specimen signature, has numbers 1, 2, and 3; photocopy has no numbers
(Senator-judge Franklin Drilon says his Annex A copy has numbers 1, 2, and 3, although these appear blurred).
  • Three specimen signatures in bank original document, in fluid strokes, indicating use of a sign pen; Annex A, each of three signatures has visible tremors, indicating possible tension.

“But that is your opinion..,. you are not a handwriting expert,” Drilon told Garcia. The bank official replied: “That is why we are submitting, your honor, our report. We have note d42 points of differences between the original bank documents and Annex A.”

At the very least, Garcia said Annex A bears “some correct information,” including the names of Corona, his wife and children, as well the account numbers of his bank accounts with PSBank.
