The Philippine Center for Investigative Journalism (PCIJ) will hold the Third Investigative Journalism Conference or “IJcon” at the Novotel Hotel in Quezon City from April 30 to May 2, 2024.

The three-day conference, which will mark the 35th founding anniversary of the PCIJ, will gather more than 100 journalists and communicators, civil society representatives, and academic experts from across the Philippines.

The IJcon is supported by the National Endowment for Democracy (NED). The conference was designed to offer a learning, sharing, and capacity building venue for the participants to appreciate the importance of investigative journalism and watchdog journalism amid the increasingly challenging political and information environments.

PCIJ Board of Editors chairman Horacio “Howie” Severino will deliver the keynote address and lead a panel discussion on the theme of this year’s IJcon: “Innovating Investigative Journalism: Towards Collaboration and Public Engagement.” The conference will also feature three plenary sessions and four sets or a total of 12 breakouts sessions on various issues.

The plenary and breakout sessions will focus on 1) enriching the content and form of investigative reporting and 2) promoting greater collaboration between and among the media, civil society, and development workers.
